Betty H. (Hatfield) Leininger

Mrs. Betty H. (Hatfield) Leininger, 89, of Shillington, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at her home.

She was the wife of E. Dallas Leininger who died on February 2, 2007.

Born in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Wellington and Catherine (Reppert) Hatfield.

Betty was significantly influenced by her childhood memories of the Great Depression and World War II during which her older brothers served. She was strong and hard-working while maintaining a compassionate and giving nature. Betty volunteered with many charities and civic organizations including Girl Scouts, Busy Bees, Women’s Club, PTA, and FISH (Fellowship in Serving Humanity). She was a member of Immanuel U.C.C. in Shillington, a Sunday School teacher with the Norristown Schwenkfelder Church and active with Christian Endeavor.

Betty was an avid reader and loved playing pinochle and bridge with friends who enjoyed listening to her stories and appreciated her sense of humor. She looked forward to traveling with her husband and family including getaways to historical destinations and annual trips to the Jersey shore. Betty frequently visited her beloved hometown of Norristown and cherished trips to center city Philadelphia where she made lifelong friends while working at the Atlantic Refineries Company. Most of all, Betty loved and cared for her family and was a kind and selfless mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty made the world a better place. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are children, Susan K. Price of Shillington; David K. husband of Deborah J. Leininger of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; and Ann L., wife of Brian K. Young of Sinking Spring.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Amanda L. Price, Kristen L. Sabatier, Kathryn R. Leininger, Alexandra E. Young, Madison A. Young, and Brady R. Young.
