Marshall R. “Bud” Showalter, 91, formerly of Kenhorst, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Mifflin Court in Shillington.

He was the husband of Evelyn L. (Clapper) Showalter who died on March 3, 2013.  They were happily married for 59 years.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Norman S. and Lillian L. (Gedman) Showalter.

Bud was a 1944 graduate of the former Mohnton High School and a 1948 graduate of the former Reading Business Institute.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during W.W.II.   He was employed as a Manager of the former Ira Fisher Appliance Store in Reading, retiring in 1994 after 46 years of service.  Bud was a lifetime member of the Pennwyn Motor Association, the Friendship Fire Company #2, and the Mohnton Fish & Game Association.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Allan M., husband of Carol Showalter of Athens, Ohio; and Keith R., husband of Vicky Showalter of Shillington, PA.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jacqueline, Christian, Alexander, Kaitlyn, and Megan Showalter; and two brothers, Eugene W. Showalter and Russell N. Showalter, both of Mohnton.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert F. Showalter.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Laureldale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
