Peter E. Shuman, Sr., 86, of Brecknock Twp., passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Reading Hospital.

He was the devoted husband of Marilyn B. (Krick) Shuman, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.

Born in Reinholds, he was the son of the late Peter J. and Theodora (Bielski) Shuman.

Peter worked for over 41 years at Interstate Container in Reading.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War.  He was a member of the former Saint Anthony’s of Padua R.C. Church in Millmont.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.  He and Marilyn traveled to nearly every state in the country and throughout Canada.  His family meant the world to him. 

He is the beloved father to Debra E. Franck of Robesonia; Peter E., Jr., husband of Donna N. Shuman of Stevens; and David A. Shuman, Sr. of Denver.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Joshua Franck and David A. Shuman, Jr.; a great granddaughter, Alexandria Franck; and a sister, Dolores Weitzel of Gouglersville.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Shuman.

Relatives and Friends are invited to greet the family and offer condolences on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, with closing remarks at 9:00 p.m. by Rev. Elmer B. Reinhold, Jr.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Hain's Cemetery in Wernersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
