Julia E. (Kissinger) Meo, 97, of Shillington, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Saint Francis Home in Cumru Twp.

Born in Berks County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Viola (Long) Kissinger.

Julia was a woman ahead of her time.  She was strong, hardworking, and generous.  She started the lunch program at the Yocum Elementary School in Grill and progressed over 25 years to become the Dietician for the Governor Mifflin School District.  She enjoyed gardening, visiting the casinos, playing bingo and cards.  Most of all she loved her roses and her grand and great grandchildren. 

Surviving are children:  Sandra, widow of Larry Cacciacarne of Reading, Jean, wife of Scott Haines of Reading, and Angelina, wife of William Briggs of Ocean City, N.J.  She is also survived by grandchildren: Lisa, wife of Dan Wolf of Sinking Spring; Todd, husband of Shirley Gurtowski of Mohrsville; Amy, wife of Frank Bartolone of Reading; C. Jeffrey Eshelman of Washington, D.C.; William Briggs, III of Washington, D.C. and Annie, wife of Charles McCann of Franklinville, N.J.  She was also survived by eight great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Marvin and Clayton Kissinger; two sisters, Lera Zerbe and Shirley Imes, and one great grandson.

Funeral Service and Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Easter Seals of Berks County, 90 George Street, Reading, PA 19605, or to the St. Francis Home, 144 Hillside Drive, Shillington, PA 19607.
