June C. (Christman) Horning

Mrs. June C. (Christman) Horning, 90, formerly of Shillington, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in Falmouth, Maine, where she moved within the past year to be closer to her family.

She was the widow of Roderick H. Horning, PhD.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Sue Christman.

June graduated from Reading High School in 1946.  She graduated from Albright College with a BS in Nursing in 1950; and from Yale School of Nursing with a Masters in Nursing in 1953; and from DeSales University with a MSN degree in Community Health Nursing in 1992.

As a Registered Nurse she taught in St. Luke’s, Bethlehem, RACC, Alvernia College, Kutztown University, and in Zambian Brethren in Christ Mission as a MCC volunteer from 1992 to 1995.  She also volunteered her time with the American Red Cross, Reading Berks Literacy Council and Mercy Community Crisis Pregnancy Center.  She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Mohnton.

Surviving are four sons, Harrison, husband of Michelle Drucker; Eric, husband of Audrey; Ned, husband of Nadia, and Evan, husband of Kristin.  She is also survived by brother Stanley Christman, husband of Sandra; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, PA.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Private Interment will follow service.
