Alfred Glase, Sr. Obituary

Alfred L. Glase Sr., known affectionately as Al by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, in Reading Hospital, due to an infectious illness, at the age of 95.

Born on May 9, 1929, in Mohnton, PA, Al lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a passion for the mechanical workings of automobiles. Al proudly served his country as an Army veteran before embarking on a lifelong career as an auto/diesel mechanic and machinist. His skilled hands and keen understanding of machinery led him to a fulfilling career at a local auto parts company and eventually Reading Mack, where he remained until his retirement in 1992. Al's work ethic and expertise were well-respected among his colleagues, and his contributions to the field were invaluable.

Beyond his professional life, Al was a loving family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian E. Glase, and his son, Alfred L. Glase Jr. His memory is cherished by his daughter, Deborah (Glase) Maciejewski and her husband Michael of Bernville, PA; his son, Gary Glase and his wife Lisa of Mooresville, NC; his five grandchildren, Heather Wiggam of Milford, DE; Tiffany Payne of Birmingham, AL; Sean Maciejewski of Fleetwood, PA; Cassandra Glase of Asheville, NC; and Marissa Glase-Smith of Wilmington, NC; and his four great-grandchildren, Kayla Maciejewski of Lock Haven, PA; Alyssa Wiggam of Milford, DE; Gunnar Maciejewski of Fleetwood, PA; and Bailey Payne of Birmingham, AL. Each of them carries forward a piece of Al's spirit and legacy.

Al's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a simple man who appreciated all that life had to offer. He was often found at car shows, admiring the craftsmanship of classic automobiles, or at auctions, where he could spot the value in the rarest finds. Dancing was another of Al's joys, and he could be seen cutting a rug with his friends at the Denver Jam, a testament to his youthful spirit and zest for life. Al also cherished the time spent with his special friend, Helen, with whom he shared many happy moments.  In a life well-lived, Al's jovial presence and the wisdom he shared will be missed by many. Al's motto embodied the sentiment, "I treat all people the way I would want to be treated."

Al's story is one of resilience, hard work, and an unending love for those around him. His influence will continue to be felt through the lives of those he touched, and his memory will be honored as a symbol of strength and integrity. Al Glase Sr. leaves behind a legacy that will be revered and celebrated by his family and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

As we bid farewell to Al, we reflect on a life marked by accomplishment, kinship, and joy. His was a journey that spanned nearly a century, filled with the laughter of loved ones, the satisfaction of a job well done, and countless memories that will be treasured forever. Rest in peace, Al Glase Sr., and may your story continue to inspire us all.
