Obituary

Alma Helbig Hobson, 91, formerly of Angelica, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at County Meadows of Wyomissing where she has been a guest since 2017.

She was the widow of Warren Hobson, Jr. who died on February 20, 1999 in Texas.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Erich O. and Elizabeth (Mengel) Helbig.

Alma was a graduate of the former Shillington High School, class of 1947 and a graduate of Temple University, class of 1951.  She taught at Public schools in suburban Philadelphia prior to moving to Germany for a year to teach.   Upon her return, she moved to Texas in the 1970’s where she enjoyed painting and sculpting. 

She is survived by her siblings, Erich H. Helbig, husband of Connie of Rochester, N.Y.; Barbara L. Brown, widow of John, Jr. of Shillington; Margaret E. Bruder, widow of Leonard, Jr. of Grill; Carolyn M. Hatt, wife of Dennis of Mohnton; Karl J. Helbig, husband of Carole of West Lawn and Gerald R. Helbig, husband of Chris of Webster, N.Y.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two siblings, Catherine M. “Kate” Helbig and Robert H. Helbig.

Funeral Service and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
