Arlene E. Richard

Arlene Ethel (Smith) Richard, 95, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2023.

She was predeceased by her first husband, John Richard on March 12, 2003.  Born and raised in Mohnton, she resided in the Gibraltar and Exeter areas.   Arlene was born to Harvey V. and Katie V. (Fritz) Smith on December 20, 1927.  

Throughout Arlene’s years she enjoyed various activities.  She last worked at Beverley Manor Nursing Home.  She was a book keeper for a rod and gun club and President for a local senior club.  Arlene would start each day with a coffee and her Bible.   She lived a simple life and loved Bingo and arts and crafts.  She and her husband, John Richard, from Gibraltar, appreciated their time in Forksville, PA where they had a permanent trailer spot.  Arlene was entertained by simple things such as baking, making whirlpools in her pool with her grandchildren, going for walks along Exeter Scenic trail, listening for the sounds of the freight train rolling by through the night, eating meals at Fegleys and “Effy’s” and watching her favorite shows such as The Price is Right, Let’s make a Deal, and the Andy Griffith Show.  She took pleasure in sharing life stories of the past. 

 Arlene leaves behind seven children including Harvey (Janice), Judy (Dallas), John, Robin (Chet), David (Noreen), Jeffrey (Cheri), and Lori (Daniel).   She had siblings by the names of Shirley, Paul, Betty, and Violet.  She also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.   Arlene has one Heavenly granddaughter and one Heavenly great granddaughter.  

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.

A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Mohnsville Cemetery.
