Barbara Schnader Obituary

Barbara A. Schnader, a cherished matriarch and respected community member, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on February 25, 2025, in Topton, Pennsylvania. Born on April 17, 1942, in West Reading, PA, Barbara's warm spirit and generous heart touched many throughout her 82 years of life.

A proud graduate of Reading High School, Barbara's commitment to excellence was evident early on. Her strong work ethic and dedication to her career were exemplified during her 26-year tenure at the former Vanity Fair, where she was a well-regarded employee. Following her time at Vanity Fair, Barbara continued to serve her community by working with the Gross Bus Company, where for 12 years, she assisted Governor Mifflin School District students, ensuring their safe transportation and brightening their days with her kindness.

Barbara's influence extended beyond her professional life. She was an active and passionate member of the Mohnton community, where she served as the Past President of the Woman's Club of Mohnton. Her leadership and fervor for community service were also seen in her role as Past Matron of the Elizabeth Herr Chapter 131 Eastern Star, where she inspired many with her dedication and grace.

Her family was Barbara's pride and joy. She leaves behind a loving legacy through her children: Kenneth W., husband of Denise (High) Schnader of Blandon; Cheryl L., wife of Seth Bolig of West Lawn; and Ann M., wife of Keith Bortz of Mohnton. Barbara's joy was multiplied with the blessing of eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will carry on her spirit of love and generosity.  She is also survived by her sister, Susan (Hollenshead), wife of Colin Hughes of Wellsboro, PA.   She was predeceased by her loving husband, Nile S. Schnader, who died on August 2, 2020 and a great grandchild.

Barbara's life was one of active engagement and tireless contribution to the well-being of her family and community. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations. Barbara A. Schnader will be profoundly missed, and her life celebrated as one well-lived, full of purpose, compassion, and unwavering love

Funeral service and interment will be private.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband Nile in Fairview Cemetery in Shillington.
