It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Paul Ludwig, a man known for his interesting character, friendly demeanor, and his ability to bring laughter into any room. Barry was born on May 3, 1954, in Reading, Pennsylvania, where he spent his entire life, and it is with a sense of peace that we share he passed away in his hometown on December 11, 2024, after a brief illness.
Barry, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his mother, Diane Vitalo; his brother, Dave Ludwig and his wife, Louise; his sisters, Wendy Boyd and her husband, David, as well as Sherry Griffith; his beloved aunt, Carol (Ludwig) Gentile; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and many friends. Barry was pre-deceased by his father Clinton P. Ludwig and his sister Judy (Ludwig) Talarico.
He attended Wilson High School. He worked at the Reading School District, poured drinks and shared stories as a long-time bartender at various establishments. He worked briefly at Sweet Street Desserts, and, in his last role, worked diligently for Manny's Tree Service.
Barry was an excellent pool player, a hobby that allowed him to showcase his competitive spirit and knack for precision. His love for the game was only matched by his enthusiasm for "The Price is Right," which he watched religiously.
Those who knew Barry would describe him as not just interesting, friendly, and funny, but as someone who lived life to the fullest, making the most of every moment. His laughter was infectious and his stories captivating.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. The family wants to especially thank Tower Health Hospice and his nurse Kate for the excellent care. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
