Benjamin I Jacobs, 78, of Mohnton passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Louise Jacobs, to whom he was married 54 years.
Born in Reading on July 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Benjamin F and Miriam Jacobs.
Ben was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era, serving as a prison guard at the USNDC in Portsmouth, NH. Following his service in the Marine Corps, he worked mainly in heating and air conditioning until his retirement.
He was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church, Reading.
Ben loved his family and animals more than anything else in the world. He loved going camping and being with his children and grandchildren. He was a very devoted husband and father and always made people laugh wherever he went. He lived life to the fullest.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children. Jeffrey Jacobs, fiancé of Desiree Albright, Wyomissing; Becky Reifsnyder, wife of Jay Reifsnyder, Mohnton; and Krista Jacobs, Shillington. Ben also had three grandsons: Christopher Jacobs, Jamie Molet and Korey Jacobs. One step-grandson, Cameron Barr. There is also one great-grandchild (Parker) and three step-great-grandchildren (Izzy, Saylor and Savannah).
He is also survived by his twin sister Beatrice Walters, widow of David Walters, Reading and his sister Sarah Rose, Minneapolis, MN.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Janet Keller, wife of Joseph Keller, Blandon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at 11 am at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home, 21 Chestnut St, Mohnton, PA 19540. Family and friends may attend a visitation from 10-11 am December 8th. Interment will follow the service at Millcreek Cemetery in Newmanstown.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Birdsboro or Marine Corps Toys for Tots.
