Betty G. (Kohl) Bender

Mrs. Betty G. (Kohl) Bender, 90, of Brecknock Twp., passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Reading Hospital.

She was the widow of Robert E. Bender who died on June 7, 1998.

Born in Cumru Twp., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Bertha M. (Ruffner) Kohl.

Betty retired in 1990 after 28 years of service with the Governor Mifflin School District last working as a Secretary.  She was an active member of the Allegheny United Church of Christ as well as a lifetime member of the Brecknock Twp. Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are children, Barbara M. Reisch of Cumru Twp.; Barry D. (Kathryn) Bender of Toronto, OH; and Beverly F. Bender of Brecknock Twp.

She is also survived by five grandchildren:  Denis Reisch; Father John Bender; Michael Bender; Brother Matthew Bender; and Mary Kathryn Bender.

She was predeceased by seven siblings.  

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Allegheny United Church of Christ, 1219 Kurtz Mill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, with Pastor Martha M. Smith, officiating.

Friends may call to greet the family on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church.
