Betty McComsey was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, June 23, 1929, daughter of James and Helen Stoner. She was a member of the Highville Evangelical United Brethren Church. Upon marriage, she joined St. Luke’s Evangelical Church in Shillington, Pennsylvania.
A secretary for a Millersville State Teachers College Dean she married Oliver McComsey on July 1, 1950 at Highville Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Traveling throughout the United States was one of her passions, which she chronicled in diaries and photo albums. She also spent many happy hours cultivating her garden and sharing her choice plants with family and friends. In addition she volunteered her musical talents by playing the piano for the Sunday school at her church. She was church secretary for many years. Lastly, she was an avid ice hockey fan.
Betty’s primary focus in life was her family, from her husband to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love was expressed through time spent, her legendary meals and special cookies, and her memorable smile. Her love will endure through the people she graced with her time and attention.
Following an illness, she passed on April 14, 2022. We will honor her memory graveside Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Shillington, Pennsylvania.
Surviving are her son Oliver (and wife Kathleen) McComsey and her daughter Denise (and husband Fred) Schugart, two granddaughters Kelly (Stephen) Bennett and Erin (Daniel) Sea, and six great-grandchildren (Ethan, Rory, Nolan, and Brenna Sea and Austin and Jacob Bennett).
