Blanche Bozeman Starks age 85
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Blanche Bozeman Starks on November 30th 2025.
Blanche was born in Belton SC to Slyvester Bozeman and Olamae Pershell-Bozeman and was the youngest and last surviving sibling of Minnie, Clara, Lydie, and brother Romus Bozeman.
Blanche was the spouse of Herman Starks Jr. born January 18th 1932 in Reading PA to Mamie J Williford and Herman F Starks Sr. and who passed away February 3rd 1997.
After Blanche met and married Herman Starks Jr. she moved from South Carolina and made permanent residence in Reading Pennsylvania.
Blanche is survived by her two children, Jon D. Starks and Sandra E. Starks-Key both of Reading Pennsylvania.
Blanche devoted her career to counseling, social services, the arts, and Christianity studies. Her deep compassion and quiet strength was felt by many individuals and families who felt comfort in her soul in their times of need and her listening ear and consultation. Honesty, grace, compassion, dignity and spirituality always lead her.
As a gifted artist Blanche showed her passion for the visual arts through her paintings and drawings and interior decorating and designer clothing. Blanche’s talent in music was shown through her active participation as a former member of The Reading Choral Society. She had an incredible talent and ear for music with a broad ear for categories in Jazz, Classic, R&B, Blues, Country, and Prince – Purple Rain.
Her exceptional eye from interior design was sought by many friends and worthy of photo ops in interior decorating magazines. Blanche loved family.
She was always well enveloped in the lives of her children Jon and Sandra as well as her many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family lines.
Blanche will truly be missed. She remained independent up until the very end still driving around in her VW Passat. She has touched many lives and has left a permanent mark on many. She passed peacefully at home and now she can reunite with friends and family who have gone before her having earned her angel wings.
