Clarence "Bud" Lewis Davidheiser, 82, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 6, 2024, during an extended stay at the Pottstown Hospital. Born on April 9, 1942, in Geigertown, PA, Bud was the loving son of William Davidheiser and Miriam (Davidheiser) Whitman. He was affectionately raised by Eugene and Mary "Pug" McMullen in Kulptown, PA.
Bud's life was a testament to love and service. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and he shared 61 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Pauline M. (Pfeffer) Davidheiser. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their son, Buddy Davidheiser and his wife, Sue of Douglassville, PA; daughter, Gerry Day and her husband, Keith of Douglassville, PA; and daughter, Sandy McEwen and her husband, Randy of Mohrsville, PA. Bud was a guiding light in the lives of his four grandchildren, Nathan Breidenstein, husband of Jenn, Ryan McEwen, husband of Lauren, Marissa Sunnekalb, wife of Chris, and Kristy Day. He also held a special place in his heart for his two step-grandchildren, Justin and his wife, Erica, and Kyle and his wife, Katie Walleigh. His legacy of love continues through his twelve great-grandchildren: AJ Gurtowski, Owen & Daltyn Breidenstein, Amelia & Rowen McEwen, Theodore & Nikolas Sunnekalb, Madelyn, Liam and Caleb Walleigh and Morgan and Connor Walleigh.
Bud's siblings held an important place in his life. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Eiche, widow of Melvin Eiche, of Reading, PA; sister, Mildred, wife of Gerald Alkire of Winter Garden, FL; brother, William Davidheiser, husband of Judy of Honey Brook, PA; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Pfeffer and his wife, Joan of Douglassville, PA.
Bud attended Birdsboro High School. Bud spent 30 years working as a Crane Operator at Dana Corporation, Parish Division, retiring in September 1994. His commitment to his community was evident through his significant involvement with the Kulptown Fire Company. Bud served as a volunteer firefighter, Assistant Fire Chief for 4 years, and Fire Chief for 12 years during his 19-year tenure from 1959-1978. Additionally, he served his community as a Union Township Supervisor from 1978-1984.
Bud was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church in Geigertown. His devotion to his faith and community was a reflection of his caring and courageous spirit.
Bud and his family also spent many summers together in Betterton, MD where Pug & Gene built a summer cottage.
During his retirement, they enjoyed camping for several years and then moved to Estero, FL to enjoy the sunshine for 14 years with new friends. In 2020, they returned to their hometown of Kulptown to be closer to loved ones. They had a wonderful celebration for their 60th wedding anniversary. He cherished his monthly breakfasts with his life-long friends and the simple pleasure of playing Skipbo with Sandy, dinners with Bud & Sue, and going to look for deer in the evenings with Gerry in the last few months of his life. Bud's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.
Friends and family remember Bud as loving and friendly, a man who approached life with courage and a welcoming smile. His presence was a comfort, and his laughter was contagious. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 2:30 pm at St. James Lutheran Church in Geigertown (physical address is 1337 Geigertown Road, Birdsboro, PA), followed by a Memorial Service at 3 pm. Internment and a reception will immediately follow the service.
