Colt Alan Shupp, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on June 13, 2023, in Reading, PA, the same city where he was born on January 20, 1983. He was 40 years old. Colt was known for his creativity, intelligence, and thoughtfulness, which touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Colt was born to Joy and George Shupp and was raised in a loving family that included his stepmother, Evone Shupp, his brother, Ryan Shupp, who is married to Kimberly Shupp, and his sister, Mandy Wolfskill, who is married to Martin Wolfskill. Colt was also a proud father to his children, Kurt, Matthew, Cora, and Daisy Shupp. He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews, Ethan, Ashton, Gibson, Gretchen, Tyrion, and River. Colt was close to his grandparents, Amandus and Gloria Hoffman, and fondly remembered his late grandparents, Carl and Helen Shupp.
Colt attended Governor Mifflin High School, where he developed a strong foundation for his future endeavors. After graduation, Colt pursued a diverse range of careers, showcasing his incredible versatility and work ethic. He was a skilled welder, a small engine mechanic, and a tree trimmer. Colt's natural ability to fix anything made him an invaluable asset to his employers and a reliable resource for his friends and family.
In his free time, Colt enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He loved foraging for mushrooms in the woods during the spring, a pastime that allowed him to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the world around him. His artwork and creativity live on through the many tattoos he had given. He also cherished the time he spent with his son, Kurt, teaching him how to play the guitar and passing on his passion for music. Colt was a singer, songwriter, and a founding member of the Pear Street Band.
Colt's creativity and thoughtfulness were evident in every aspect of his life. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or share a word of encouragement. In memory of Colt Alan Shupp, let us celebrate his life and remember the love, laughter, and joy he brought to us all. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Services will be held Saturday June 17th at Calvary Evangelical Church of Pennwyn – 139 Pennwyn Place Shillington, PA 19607. Visitation will be at 10 am and formal service at 11 am. Burial will be immediately following the service at St. Johns Church in East Earl. Family and friends are welcome to share memories or stories at the service.
