Donald G. Herbst

Mr. Donald G. Herbst, 92, of Mohnton, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Mifflin Center in Shillington.

He was the husband of Gladys M. (Witmer) Herbst.

Born in Mohnton, he was the son of Alice Wolfe.

He grew up in Mohnton and attended Mohnton High School.  After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in the 34th Infantry Dog Plt APO during the Korean War.  After his discharge he briefly went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a Delivery Person.   He went to work at R.M. Palmer Candy Company in Reading until he retired.  He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. and the P.O.S. of A., all in Mohnton.   He was a loving and devoted husband, father and pop-pop.  He enjoyed watching auto and horse racing and will be remembered most of all for his sense of humor. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons:  Dan, husband of Kathleen Herbst of West Lawn; Robb Herbst of Henry, VA; Grandchildren:  Aislynn Herbst of West Lawn; Aviane Herbst, Esposo of Erik Hoff of Rockville, MD and Ardin, husband of Hannah Herbst of Hanover, PA.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring, PA.
