Douglass M. Schaeffer, Sr.

Douglass M Schaeffer, Sr., 80, of Cumru Twp., passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Linda J. (Laurence) Schaeffer, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage with on Aug. 5.  They have been together for 51and a half years.

Born in Monocacy, PA, he was the son of the late Lyman and Phoebe Schaeffer.   

Doug last worked at veterans auto sales and prior to that as a roofer with his brothers for many years.  He loved his family and his dogs as well as attending car shows with his wife and friends.  He enjoyed watching old cowboy movies and WWE.  In his early days he found enjoyment by reconditioning automobiles to include painting and customizing

Surviving in addition to his wife are children:  Tammy (Schaeffer) wife of Craig Werley; Wendy (Schaeffer) wife of Matthew Harley; Tracey (Schaeffer) wife of Bryan Anastasio and Douglass M. Schaeffer, Jr. 

He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Cory, Kirstin, Michael, Brittney, Brooke, Deana, Matthew Jr, Nakita, Jessica, Sania, Erika and Samantha; and Great Grandchildren, Skylar, Lacey, Elijah, Zariah, Bradley Jr, Aylana, Alexia, Damian, Zayden and Nolan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Douglass was predeceased by 12 siblings.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
