Edith A. (Minner) Austin

Edith Anna Austin, 81, of Reading, passed away on October 26, 2021 at her home. She was the loving wife of Ronald Austin for over 62 years. She spent her entire life with her husband and family in the Reading area and worked as a bookkeeper at Brecknock Elementary School, Winkler Knitting Mill and Sylvania Chemical Company before retiring in 1998. She is preceded in death by her mother, Laura Minner, nee Rupp & Leroy Minner of Reading, PA. In addition to her husband, Ronald, Edith is survived byher two sons, Brian Austin, husband of Lindy of Dallas, TX and Randy Austin, husband of Patty of Bowie, MD. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jeremy Austin, of Alexandria, VA, Danielle Austin of Dallas, TX, David Austin, husband of Aubrie, of Dallas, TX, Kristin Hall of Washington, DC, Justin Hall, husband of Jackie, of Glen Burnie, MD, Kristin Corry, wife of Justin, Glen Burnie, MD and Shannon Smith of Bear, DE and 8 great grandchildren.

The viewing and visitation for Edith will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021at 9:30 followed by the funeral service at 10:30 at the Giles &Yeckley Funeral Home, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street in Mohnton, PA 19540. These services will be followed by the burial service at her gravesite at Aulenbach’s Cemetery at 2050 Howard Blvd in Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Rd in Birdsboro, PA 19508.
