Esther Orrs Obituary

Esther Velma (Grove) Orrs, 102, of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 102 at Country Meadows of Leader Heights. She was born on November 10, 1923, in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, and lived a long and meaningful life marked by faith, devotion to family, and a warm spirit that touched many who knew her.

Esther was the daughter of Adam and Estella (Flinchbaugh) Grove. She grew up surrounded by the love and companionship of a large family and carried those bonds throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Melvin “Red” Orrs, and by her siblings, Erma Grim, Ozella Jones, Meda Ehrhart, Pauline Grove, Melvin Grove, Henry Grove, Sylvan Grove, Earl Grove, Quentin Grove, and Palmer Grove. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families, who will remember her with deep affection and gratitude for the love she shared so freely.

A talented and dedicated hairdresser, Esther made her living through skill, hard work, and personal connection. She operated her own beauty shop for 35 years in Sinking Spring, serving clients with care and pride. Her work was more than a profession. It was a reflection of her personality and the way she related to others, always with kindness, conversation, and a genuine interest in the people in her chair. She created a welcoming place where many found not only beauty services, but also friendship and encouragement.

Esther enjoyed music and shared her voice as a member of the St. Luke’s Evangelical Congregational Church choir. She was also active in the St. Luke’s 50 Plus group and sang in the Hand Bell choir for eight years, taking part in the fellowship and worship that were so important to her. Her faith was evident in the way she lived, and she found joy in serving and participating in her church community.

Those who knew Esther will remember her as spirited, generous, and funny. Her humor and warmth left lasting impressions on family and friends alike. She especially enjoyed painting holiday cookies for family and friends, a thoughtful and creative expression of her love that brought joy to many gatherings and celebrations. These simple but meaningful acts reflected the care she showed throughout her life. Esther’s legacy is one of devotion, resilience, and grace. She lived with purpose, loved deeply, and gave generously of herself to her family, her church, her clients, and her community. Her long life was filled with relationships and moments that will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will remain a blessing to all who loved her.
