Eugene H. Ruffner

Eugene (Gene) H. Ruffner, 87 of Brecknock Township passed away on Sunday, January 24 at the Reading Hospital.

He was born on July 7, 1933 to Harvey and Mabel (Beavens) Ruffner in Reading, PA

As a young man, Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He spent many weekends boating on the Elk River with his family.  He and his wife Joan enjoyed camping and have been to all 48 contiguous states during their many camping excursions.  He enjoyed watching baseball and football games and was a Philadelphia Phillies fan.

He is survived by his wife, Joan S. (nee Fritz) Ruffner and two daughters; Debra L. wife of Gary Craley, Brecknock Township, and Corinne K. wife of David Bush, Elizabethtown, PA.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Nadine J. Nolt.

He is also survived by six grandchildren; Kelly LeHew, Jeana Nolt, Melissa Reilly, Michelle Martin, Meredith Pfundheller, and Andrew Bush.  There are also six great-grandchildren; Aiden, Elias, Addison, Finnegan, Raelyn, and Harper.

In addition, he is survived by a brother, Richard Ruffner and two sisters, Shirley Miller and Fern Hartman.  He  was predeceased by a step-brother, Norman Blimline and a sister, Jane Ruffner.

Services will be private at the request of the family. 

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., of Mohnton.
