Evelyn M. Reed

Evelyn M. Reed, born on August 29, 1932, in Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Shillington, Pennsylvania. She lived a long and faithful life marked by devotion to her family, her church, and the many friends who were blessed to know her. Evelyn will be remembered with love as a kind, loving, and gracious woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her.

Evelyn was the widow of Kenneth F. Reed, with whom she shared a life built on love, commitment, and the blessings of family. Together, they created a home filled with care and devotion, and the values they shared continued to guide her throughout her life. She was a devoted mother to Karen Hahn of Mohnton, Keith and Susan Reed of Mohnton, and Donna and Samuel Rakowiecki of Exeter Township. Her love for her children was steady and unconditional, and she took great joy in the family she helped nurture through the years.

She was also a cherished grandmother to Jeremy, Erica, Brian, Christine, and Jennifer, and she treasured each of them deeply. Evelyn found great happiness in the growing generations of her family, and she was blessed to see her love extended through six great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life, and she gave to them faithfully through her prayers, encouragement, and gentle example. The memory of her loving spirit will remain a lasting gift to all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.

Evelyn attended Mohnton High School and carried with her the values of hard work, humility, and perseverance throughout her life. She devoted her years to working in the home and raising her family, a calling she embraced with patience and dedication. Her life was a beautiful reflection of service, as she gave of herself in countless quiet ways that made a lasting difference. She understood the importance of home, and she made hers a place of love, stability, and faith.

Her Christian faith was central to who she was, and she was a faithful member of Zion E.C. Church in Mohnton. Evelyn found strength and comfort in the Lord, and her life reflected the peace that comes from trusting in God’s care. She was a woman of prayer and devotion, and her faith was evident in the way she treated others with kindness, dignity, and compassion. Those who knew her could see in her life the gentle witness of a Christian woman who sought to live according to God’s will.

Evelyn also enjoyed the fellowship and friendship found in her many interests and associations. She was a member of the Bridge Club, the League of Golden Agers, the Red Hatters, and the Hilltoppers. These connections brought her joy and companionship, and she valued the many relationships she formed through them. She appreciated good conversation, shared laughter, and the simple pleasures of time spent with others. Her involvement in these groups reflected her warm personality and her appreciation for community and friendship.

She will be remembered as a loving and kind woman whose heart was devoted to her family and her faith. Evelyn’s life was a testimony to the beauty of a humble and faithful spirit. Though she will be deeply missed, her loved ones take comfort in the promise of eternal life and in the hope of reunion through Christ our Lord. Her earthly journey has ended, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in the peace and presence of her Savior.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, PA 19540 with Pastor Robert Shuey, officiating.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
