Gene Yuhas Obituary

Gene S. Yuhas, 82, formerly of Shillington, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the West Reading Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret (Hollick) Yuhas.

Gene was raised in Minersville before the family moved to Shillington in 1953.  He graduated from Governor Mifflin High School in 1959.  After graduation he went to work as a carpenter in Berks County and assisted with building the Berkshire Mall.  Gene loved to sing in harmony with his brother Bill.  They sang with a Doo-Wop group named the ‘Invictors’ and even cut a record named “I’ll always care for you”.  He also sang background with Don Ellis and the Royal Dukes where they made a record with ‘Bee’ Label in Reading.

Gene enjoyed trout fishing.  He was always the most handsome and best dressed guy in the room, often mistaken for Robert Redford.  He will be missed by his family.

He is survived by his brother, William, widow of Bonnie Yuhas; Son, Michael Yuhas; two nieces, Teri and Tracy Yuhas and two great nieces, Samantha and Alexandra Yuhas.

He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Debra Sweitzer.
