Gerald Clemens Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Clemens, a cherished soul known for his loving nature, quick wit, and selfless spirit, passed away on March 11, 2025, at Reading Hospital, PA. Born on May 8, 1934, in Reading, PA, Jerry lived a full and vibrant life that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.

Jerry graduated from Mohnton High School in 1952 and soon after proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked many years as a Plumber and later with CarTech, where he was not only respected for his work ethic but also greatly valued for the camaraderie and friendship he brought to the workplace.

Jerry was the loving husband of the late Sally Clemens, who preceded him in death on March 12, 2018. His devotion to Sally was a testament to his deep capacity for love and commitment. Together, they raised a family that was the center of Jerry's world: his daughter Lori, married to Tim Henze, and his son Randy, married to Tara Clemens. His legacy includes three adoring granddaughters, Kristen Weitzel, Jessica, wife of Seth Bingaman, and Cameron Clemens, as well as four great-grandchildren, Silas Schnader, Riley Weitzel, Sadie Bingaman, and Reef Weitzel, who will carry forward his spirit of kindness and joy.

Jerry is also survived by his brothers, Phillip, David, and Barry, and his sisters, Sandra Flemming and Colleen Ludwig. His life was further enriched by a large extended family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Russell and his sisters Barbara Clemens and Lucille Dunkelberger.

Those who knew Jerry will remember him for his unwavering support for his favorite sports teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State football. His love for music was evident to anyone who heard him humming along to jazz tunes and 50's Doo-Wop. Jerry's zest for life was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to revel in the joy of his family's company or a chance to try his luck at the casino.

Jerry's sense of humor was a beacon of light, always ready to share a joke or a funny story to brighten someone's day. His selflessness was seen in his every action, always putting others before himself and going out of his way to help those in need. Jerry's family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, from the smallest of everyday occurrences to the grandest family celebrations.

As we say farewell to Gerald Clemens, we celebrate a life well-lived. Jerry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and selflessness. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the warmth of his smile and the generosity of his heart have done so throughout the years.

Jerry's life will be honored and remembered in the hearts of his loved ones and all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we reflect on the joy he brought into our lives, we are reminded that while we mourn his passing, we also rejoice in the rich tapestry of memories he leaves behind—a true testament to a life filled with love and laughter. Jerry Clemens will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life's story will resonate for generations to come.

A special thank you goes out to Hip and Michelle for everything they did for Pops over the years. They were his “Guardian Angels”

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Saturday May 10th at the Gouglersville Fire Company picnic area at 1:00.
