Gladys M. (Witmer) Herbst

Gladys M. (Witmer) Herbst, 85, of Mohnton, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the Mifflin Center in Shillington.

She was the wife of Donald G. Herbst who died on June 15, 2021.

Born in reading, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Bertha (Bixler) Witmer.

Gladys was a longtime school secretary at the Brecknock Elementary School.  She was also employed as a Legal Secretary for Terrance Connor, Esquire.  She was a devoted member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Mohnton where she sang in the church choir.  She was a member of the G.W.F.C. Woman’s Club in Mohnton.  Gladys’s volunteered her time as a Den Mother for the Mohnton Boy Scouts and was head of the Day Care Center at Colonial Hills Bowling Alley, and most recently assisted at Calvary Care in Mohnton.      

Surviving are two sons:  Dan, husband of Kathleen Herbst of West Lawn; Robb Herbst of Henry, VA; Grandchildren:  Aislynn Herbst of West Lawn; Aviane Herbst, Esposo of Erik Hoff of Rockville, MD and Ardin, husband of Hannah Herbst of Hanover, PA.

She is survived by siblings:  Joyce Witmer, Arlene Crouse, Ruth Schlegel, Gloria Fryberger and Anna Guldin.  She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, with Pastor Tamie J. Scalise, officiating.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring, PA.
