Irene A. Tevis

We celebrate the remarkable life of Irene Antoinette Tevis, lovingly referred to as Rene, who graced us with her presence until October 27, 2024, in Reading, PA. Born on August 18, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA, Rene was a beacon of light and inspiration for all who knew her. Her warm heart and selflessness touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Rene's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of love and strength that touched everyone she encountered.  Rene was the cherished wife of Robert L. Tevis Jr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage for 37 years.

She was a devoted mother to her beloved children, Michael J. Lis, Jr., Danielle Tevis, Leanne Muffley (wife of David Muffley), Rachael Gonzales (wife of Phillip Gonzales), and Dorothy Tevis. 

Her role as a grandmother was one she embraced with her whole heart, showering Kali, Mikaela, Raeleigh, Brooklyn, Juliet, and Jude with love and kindness. She was a loving sister to Raymond Sawicki, Donna Sawicki, and the late Jackie Reinert.

Rene's interests were a reflection of her zest for life and the joy she found in simple pleasures. She relished vacations at the beach, where the sun and waves were a backdrop to cherished family memories. Shopping was not just a pastime but an opportunity for laughter and bonding, often followed by lunch dates that were less about the food and more about the cherished company. The Hallmark channel provided a source of heartwarming entertainment that resonated with her optimistic outlook on life.

Those who knew Rene will remember her as the epitome of loving kindness.  Her heart was an open door, welcoming all with unconditional love, her arms formed a sanctuary where others found solace, and her spirit radiated a beautiful essence of forgiveness that inspired everyone around her. This remarkable blend of qualities not only uplifted those in her presence but also created a ripple effect of joy and hope, reminding us all of the incredible power of compassion and understanding in our lives.  She was the kind of person who not only spoke of love but lived it through her actions every day. 

Rene's courage was as quiet as it was formidable. She faced life's challenges with a grace that inspired courage in others. Her strength was not loud or boastful but deeply rooted in her character, enabling her to overcome obstacles with a poise that reassured everyone around her.

As we bid farewell to Rene, we do so with gratitude for the time we were blessed to have her in our lives. Her memory will be treasured, her life celebrated, and her spirit forever a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.  A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
