James R. Kramer

James R. Kramer, known to family and friends as Jim, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Reading, Pennsylvania. He was born on April 29, 1933, in Laureldale, Pennsylvania, and lived a life marked by kindness, adventure, and gentle devotion to the people and activities he loved.

Jim was the beloved husband of Beatrice J. Kramer, whom he married on December 23, 1967. Their marriage was a source of companionship and shared joy throughout the years, and together they built a life filled with simple pleasures, steady routines, and lasting memories. He is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, who will remember him with affection and gratitude. In addition to his wife and extended family, Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen M. Kramer, née Lengel, a beloved aunt, Mary A. Faber,  his brother, Walter I. Kramer, and 2 nephews.

Jim graduated from Shillington High School with the class of 1951, and he carried the values of that era with him throughout his life. He was a hardworking and dependable man who devoted many years to his employment and to the community around him. From 1951 until his retirement in 1999, he worked as a distributor for the Reading Eagle and Reading Times, a role that reflected his steady work ethic and long commitment to service. He also worked at Lutz’s Bakery from 1954 to 1970 and operated Kramer’s TV Service from 1963 to 1972, demonstrating a strong willingness to do what was needed and to contribute wherever he could.

Jim was deeply involved in his community and was a lifetime member of the Grill Fire Company, which he joined in 1954. His long membership reflected his loyalty and his respect for the traditions and friendships that come with such service. He was also a life member of the N.R.A. Throughout his life, Jim valued belonging, responsibility, and the bonds formed through shared interests and common purpose.

Outside of work and community involvement, Jim found great enjoyment in the simple and meaningful things in life. He and his wife loved traveling throughout the United States together, taking in the sights and experiences that came with each journey. Jim loved photograpy and taking many pictures of the places they visited. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, where patience and care brought their own rewards. He also liked watching western movies, baking for friends and family, and relaxing in his favorite chair. These quiet pleasures were a true reflection of who he was, a man who appreciated comfort, routine, and the happiness found in everyday moments.

Those who knew Jim will remember his kind nature, his gentle spirit, and his adventurous heart. He had a way of making others feel at ease, and his presence brought warmth and steadiness to those around him. Whether through his work, his family life, or his hobbies, he lived with sincerity and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression. His life was one of dedication, love, and faithful companionship, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, his extended family, and all who were touched by his life. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and the enduring example of a life well lived.

Funeral service and interment will be private.
