Janet Elsie Steininger, lovingly known as Tweety, passed peacefully from this life in Reading, Pennsylvania, on the day the Lord called her home, after a long life of grace, faith, and quiet strength. Born on March 8, 1944, in Reading, PA, she lived her years with a gentle spirit, a kind heart, and a steadfast Christian faith that guided her steps through every season of life.

Tweety was a woman whose presence brought comfort, and whose smile could brighten even the heaviest day. She carried herself with humility and warmth, and she met life with a steady trust in God’s goodness. Her days were marked by simple blessings, honest work, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. In her own way, she reflected the light of Christ, and those who knew her will remember the peace she shared so naturally.

She retired from Sweet Street on December 20, 2013, after 25 years of dedicated service. Her years there were a testament to her faithfulness and her strong work ethic. Family was a cherished part of Tweety’s life, and she loved her children deeply. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Steininger and Richard Steiniger, and by her daughter, Robin Plylaharn. She also leaves behind her son-in-law, Jack Plylaharn, and her daughter-in-law, Dawn Steininger. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Phillip Ocasio, Dakota Steininger, and Melissa Slimmer, who will carry forward treasured memories of her kindness, her laughter, and her steady encouragement. The bonds she formed with her family were woven with love, and those ties remain strong even now, held together by remembrance and faith.

Tweety found joy in the quiet pleasures of life. She loved to crochet, and with patient hands she created beauty stitch by stitch. When her hands could no longer do what they once had, she did not lose her love for color and creativity, but instead turned to adult coloring books, where she continued to express herself with care and delight.
