John B. "Jack" Renninger, Jr.

John Barton Renninger, Jr., affectionately known as Jack, passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2026, at the age of 78. Though his passing was sudden and heartbreaking, he will be remembered fondly for the robust life he lived.

Born on August 20, 1947, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Jack was the son of the late John Barton Renninger Sr. and Dorothy (Gilroy) Renninger. He was a graduate of Reading High School. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before returning home to build a life centered on family and the activities he loved.

Jack believed in staying active and embracing every opportunity life had to offer. A dedicated road runner for much of his life, he took great pride in qualifying for and completing the Boston Marathon—an accomplishment that reflected his determination, discipline, and perseverance. Running was only one of his many passions. He was an avid cyclist who found joy on the open road, played volleyball, and loved dancing at local venues, where his enthusiasm and energy were memorable and evident.

Jack leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hard work, and living life to the fullest. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and supported them at their sporting events and activities. He is survived by his son, John M. Renninger (Kazusa), and his daughter, Jennifer M. Myers (Timothy),  six grandchildren: John Clayton (Ruka), Kristina (Gabriel), Aaron, Luke, Benjamin (Meghan), and Joshua, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Donna Aulenbach and Diane Smith and three nieces.  He was predeceased by a nephew. 

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family finds comfort in remembering a life well-lived and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. 

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 2, anytime between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home, 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton. All who knew and loved Jack are welcome to visit and share in celebrating his life. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1327 Alleghenyville Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, in memory of Jack to support the senior volleyball group gatherings that brought him so much joy.
