John White Obituary

As a saved man John Edward White Sr. went to be with the lord in heaven on May 14th at 2:30 am.  

He was preceded in death by his parents James A. White and Violet L. Booher and siblings James A. White and Charlotte (White) Foster.

John was born in Blacks Hospital, Lewistown, PA on December 31, 1931. He served his country in the Air Force as a top secret cryptographer for 4 years in Berkenfeld, Germany, deciphering code during the Korean conflict and served in the reserves for 8 years. He spent many years selling and installing garage doors and openers. There weren't many things electric he couldn't troubleshoot and fix.

He continued his interest in radios his entire life as a Ham operator. He spent hours using his radios talking with strangers from around the world.  He loved hunting, traveling, dancing & telling stories about his adventures.  He would strike up a conversation with anyone.  He never met a person he couldn't find common ground with and No one was a stranger when John was around.

He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.  He is survived by his Wife of 32 loving years of marriage, whom he had 41 years of adventures with, Diane Lee White.  Also survived by his 7 children, Patty Pieja (Steve), Margie Mitchell, Audrey Dowdin (Rick), John White, Jr. (Tracy), Hiedi Oates, David White, & Rob Golay (Michele) 11 Grandchildren, Tiffany, Laura, Kyle, Courtney, Mallory, Caitlin, Sydney, Skylar, Elizabeth, Paige, Nathan & 5 Great Grand Children, Jonas, Owen, Alex, Braxton, Shepard.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc, 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home to offer condolences to the family.

Private interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
