Jonathan E. Muthard

Jonathan Edward Muthard, 58, died on December 6, 2025 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Jonathan, born in West Reading, PA was an avid fisherman; a lover of Berks County’s streams, rivers, and creeks; a carpenter and handy man; a banjo player; and most importantly a devoted and affectionate friend. He loved sharing jokes, telling tall tales, and pulling pranks on those he loved. Jonathan attended Oley Valley High School (Class of 1985) and graduated from the Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania.

Jonathan is survived by his mother Mary Jane Muthard of Honey Brook, PA; his sister Dr. Jennifer Lee Vaughan (and husband Brian)of Fredericksburg, VA; his life-long best friend Mark Ponce (and wife Lori) of Reading, PA, and his former wife Kimberlee Sullivan Muthard of Reading, PA. He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Alton Muthard.

The family will be honoring his wishes and distributing his remains privately by one of his favorite streams. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Tulpehocken Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
