June B. (Blankenbiller) Schaeffer

June Blankenbiller Schaeffer, 97, of 112 Cortelyou Ave., Montrose Manor, Shillington, died January 4, 2022 at Phoebe Berks in Wernersville, where she was a resident for over four years.

June was born June 21, 1924, in Mohnton, Pa., to the late Lawrence and Amie (Remp) Blankenbiller.

She graduated from Shillington High School. Except for a few years of living in Wildwood, NJ or Dover, De, she was a lifelong resident of the Shillington area.

June enjoyed visiting with and caring for her family whether through dinners, watching local youth sports or visiting them at distant states.

She loved to travel by automobile, cruise ship and RV giving her and her husband the opportunity to visit many of the States, Mexico and Canada.

Very active in her church, St Luke’s EC Church, of Shillington, Pa. She taught in Sunday School, served with the Busy Bees and helped coordinate and decorate for Church dinners and “Sweet Heart” Banquets. She also was active with Christian Business Women and hospital visitations.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for various companies such as CarTech, various banks and Handy Personnel for over forty years.

She was the loving wife of George Schaeffer, Jr who predeceased her in April of 2008.

Surviving is a son Capt. George (wife Deborah) Schaeffer USN(Ret) of Clermont, Fl. and a daughter Debra Shartle of Richland, Pa.

She leaves behind five grandchildren: Tom Schaeffer of Bowdoin, Me., Melissa Good of Blaine TN, Lori Strickler of Harrisburg, Pa, and Brandon Schaeffer of Braintree, Ma. and Owen Shartle of Lancaster, Pa.  Additionally, she leaves nine great-grandchildren: Tyler Marmontello, Travis Imboden, Cody Good, Allison Wunder, Dakota Wunder, Christian Wunder, Amellia Schaeffer, Alexandria Schaeffer, and Abigail Schaeffer, and two great-great grandchildren; Jack and Avacyn.

Donations to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Fairview Cemetery in Shillington, Pa.
