Leona P. Mayernik

Mrs. Leona P. (Kern) Mayernik, 83, of Cumru Twp. died on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. Kern and Emma E. (Neincehelscer) Kern. Leona attended Sacred Heart Catholic School of West Reading. She then graduated from Empire Beauty School in 1957, earning her cosmetology license. Leona later worked at REGIS Hair Salon for doing hair and managing the salon. She won many awards for her managing skills which took her around the world. Surviving family, a son Michael J., husband of Debbie (Wink) Mayernik, a son Robert J. Mayernik, and a daughter Liane Mayernik, wife of Michael Keehn. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Amber L. and Ashley A. Keehn; a sister-in-law Azailene "Macy" (Pachla) Kern, nieces Rickie Ann (Deysher) Schaab and Kathy (Kern) Yannes. The funeral service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
