Louise Cataldi Obituary

Louise Cataldi, 98, of Denver, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Reading Hospital.

She was the widow of Gabriel Cataldi, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Mohnton, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Sally (Strunk) Nocera.

Louise was a long-time employee of Penn Optical in Reading, and the Bollman Hat Company in Adamstown.

Surviving is a daughter, Sandra L., wife of David Texter; three grandchildren, Anita L., wife of John Lewis, Thomas J. Carbaugh, and James G. Cataldi, husband of Sharon; five great-grandchildren, Taylor M. Lisney, husband of Mallory, Gabrielle V. Lewis, Ashley L. Carbaugh, Jessica L. Cataldi, and James B. Cataldi; and four great-great-grandchildren, Elliott, June, Olive, and Giovanni.

She was predeceased by a son, James A. Cataldi, a daughter, Linda L. Cataldi, and eleven siblings.

Louise, or Grammy, as she was known to most, was often the life of the party and always the heart of the family.  She was an excellent cook and was always there to load up an empty plate again and again.  Grammy had a love of Agatha Christie novels, Alfred Hitchcock films, and chocolate candy.  She loved a good laugh and enjoyed an occasional jaunt to the casino.  She had a bright spirit and a generous nature, and Grammy left an impression on everyone that knew her.

Louise spent the last ten months in Connections, the Memory Care Facility at Country Meadows in Wyomissing, where she received exceptional care by its loving and knowledgeable staff.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.
