Louise Darby Obituary

Louise Gloria Darby, known affectionately as Louise to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Reading, Pennsylvania, after complications from health issues. Born on February 8, 1943, in Glassboro, New Jersey, Louise was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Through her 81 years of life, she embodied the virtues of kindness, faith, and a gentle spirit that touched countless hearts.

Predeceased by her parents, Rose and Albert Darby, Louise's memory will be treasured by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy through her brothers and sisters, Jean, Joan and Shirley, Robert and Bobby and children, Debra Lanyon, Daurice Speyerer, Dawn Stutzman, Kayanna Stutzman, and her only son, Jay Stutzman. Her life's joy was further multiplied by her seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness to her days. Louise was also the cherished matriarch to her late daughter, Patricia Ann Raggazino, her granddaughter, Aubrey Lynn Dettra, and her grandson, Myron Korobij, and two sisters, Delores and Marie. Her adored cat, Baby, was her faithful companion for thirteen years and held a very special place in her heart.

Despite leaving school at a young age, Louise never stopped learning and sharing her wisdom with others. Her ability to connect with people was unparalleled, making her the easiest person to talk to and seek advice from. Her conversations were a blend of compassion and insight, and her presence was a comforting refuge for her family and friends.

Louise's interests were a reflection of her vibrant character. A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, she relished in the music that moved her soul. Her Italian dishes were legendary among those who had the pleasure of tasting them, and her cheese hoagies were a coveted treat. Thursday evenings were a cherished ritual, as she would watch Joey Merlino with her grandson, Cranston, sipping coffee and sharing laughter that echoed into the night. These moments, filled with simple pleasures and deep connections, were the essence of Louise's life.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's twists and turns with grace. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched—they must be felt with the heart." Louise lived by these words, feeling and spreading love with every action.

She will be remembered not only for her loving nature and her faith-filled life but also for her gentle way of guiding others through their own journeys. Her unwavering support and boundless love were the foundation upon which her family grew and flourished.

Louise Gloria Darby's legacy is not one of material possessions or accolades but of the love she gave and the lives she touched. It is the laughter shared over coffee, the warmth of her comforting words, and the joy of her presence that will be dearly missed and forever cherished.

As her family and friends bid farewell to this remarkable woman, they take solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire them. Louise's love was her gift to the world—a gift that will continue to resonate through the generations. Her journey on earth may have ended, but the love she shared remains eternal.
