Maryann McEwen Obituary

Maryann H. McEwen, a beloved figure in her community and a beacon of strength and love for her family, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at the age of 84 in Mohrsville, Pennsylvania. She was able to remain at home through the end, as were her wishes, thanks to the caring hands and hearts of Heartland Hospice. Born on April 2, 1940, in Thorndale, Pennsylvania, Maryann's life was one marked by dedication, warmth, and pride she found in the achievements and company of her loved ones.

Maryann was a proud graduate of Scott High School in Coatesville, Pennsylvania and her pursuit of knowledge led her to attend Goldy Beacon in preparation for her future. Maryann's professional life was characterized by her role as an administrative assistant with the Berks County Register of Wills, where she found a fulfilling career serving others, including collecting marriage certificate applications which brought her immense happiness.

Her marriage to Ross M. McEwen Sr., now deceased, was a partnership grounded in mutual respect, companionship, love, and endless affection. Together, they built a family that would be Maryann's greatest pride. She is survived by her loving sons, Ross McEwen Jr. and his wife Lori, Randy McEwen and his wife Sandy, and her cherished grandchildren, Ryan McEwen (husband of Lauren), Marissa Sunnekalb (wife of Christopher), Jason McEwen, Lauren Ulrich (wife of Andy), and Kortney McEwen (fiancée of Leonard Watson Jr.). Maryann was also a doting great-grandmother to Amelia & Rowen McEwen and Theodore & Nikolas Sunnekalb, whose youthful exuberance brought her immeasurable joy.

Maryann's life was a testament to her enduring love for her family. She was a constant presence at the sporting events of her children and grandchildren, cheering them on from the sidelines with enthusiasm that was both infectious and unwavering. Her support was a cornerstone in their lives, and the memories created during those precious moments will be treasured by her family forever.

Her battle with breast cancer was fought with the same grace and courage that she carried throughout her life. Maryann faced her diagnosis with a positive outlook, never allowing it to diminish her rambunctious spirit or her ability to find joy in every day.

Maryann's legacy is one of love, commitment, and the enduring bonds of family. She will be remembered for her kindness, her spunky nature, her honesty, her laughter, and her ability to find happiness in the simple moments in life. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her memory will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends.

As Maryann's family mourns her passing, they also celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the legacy of love she leaves behind will forever be cherished. Maryann H. McEwen and her presence will be deeply missed, but the impact she made on the world and her light will remain in the hearts of those she touched and act as a lasting tribute to a life well-lived.

Per Maryann’s wishes, there will be no formal service. As such, the family of Maryann McEwen invites those who knew and loved her to remember and honor her life through shared memories.
