Melvin Kramer Obituary

Melvin C. Kramer, 90 years old sadly passed away on March 30, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. His friends called him “Bo-Bo” and family called him “Poppy”.

The world became a brighter place on 7/12/1931 when Melvin was born to the late Irvin and Erma (Glassmyre) Kramer born in Reading Pa.

Melvin lived a long, happy, and fulfilling life. He lived on a farm in Brecknock Township for most of his life, later moving to Ephrata making friends wherever he went. Melvin worked as a block and brick layer for R.A DeFrees, Inc. for over 25 years, then worked for Modern Mason until retirement. He enjoyed working on his farm, hunting especially with a bow and arrow, playing baseball, and playing a round of golf. He loved to teach his children and grandchildren about his hobbies and passions.  Melvin enjoyed spending time with family and friends where he was always laughing, joking, and playing pranks. His positivity and passion for life brought smiles to everyone he met, as he would always say, “Have fun and enjoy life!”

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Annabel Kramer, his Aunt Jenny and Uncle John Kissinger who raised him, his sisters Grace Kramer and Mildred Becker, his brother Harvey Kramer, his son Jeffrey Reed, and grandson Christopher Reed.

Melvin is survived by his daughter Pamela Leininger, Stephanie Rotz, husband Michael Rotz, and his son Bradley Reed, wife Vicki Reed. Melvin is also survived by grand-children Justin Leininger, Jason Leininger, wife Denise Leininger, Brittany Koenig, Caitlin Armao, husband Nicholas Armao, Emily Reed, Shelby Reed, Amanda Reed and Jamie Reed. His great-grandchildren include Luna Garvey, Blane Leininger, Jason Leininger Jr., Joseph Leininger, Jax Leininger, Julianna Leininger and Jett Leininger.

His loving and care-free spirit will be forever cherished and forever remembered. At Melvin’s request services will not be held, but we do appreciate your love and support during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
