Naomi Nawrocki Obituary

Naomi Diana Nawrocki, age 91 passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025,leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and faith. Born on July 29, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to John and Esther Kulp. Naomi was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Naomi was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Walter A Nawrocki, who departed this world on January 7, 2008, as well as by her three brothers - Earl, John (Jack) and George - and four sisters - Adelaide, Ruth, Drucilla, and Vesta (Betty), who passed away just months earlier. Fondly known as Nomi, she created a warm and welcoming space for her family and friends.

Naomi married Robert W. Zuber in 1953 and moved to Reading, where they resided in Mount Penn, West Reading and Mifflin Park. They had two children Jennifer E. Smith and Robert K. Zuber, and then divorced in 1970. Naomi spent her final years at Thomas Gardens and The Highlands of Wyomissing. A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church from 1953 until the1990’s where she enjoyed singing in the Choir. She later joined Immanuel Church of Christ, where she volunteered her time at the soup kitchen.

Naomi’s love for her family was boundless.  She is survived by her daughter Jennifer E. Smith (Kevin), of Thomas Gardens, Cumru Township and Robert K. Zuber (Paula), of Boone, North Carolina. She had three granddaughters, grandson and 4 great-grandchildren.   Granddaughters are Janel E. Bell, who is the mother of Jacob and Abigail Bell of Morgantown PA, and Meredith A Ferrell (Jon), who is the mother of Audrey and Lydia Ferrell of Summerfield, North Carolina. Michael W. Zuber (Kella), of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Kelly D. Zuber of Seville, Spain. Each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of immense joy for Nomi.

An active and vibrant person throughout her life, Naomi enjoyed volleyball with her friends in the “Volleyball Gang”, played bridge, engaged in ceramics and crafts, and traveled extensively with her late husband, Walt. She had a fulfilling career that began in High School and continued into her 70’s, working in various healthcare offices as an office manager and bookkeeper, finishing her working years at Sturgis Pretzels. Naomi also volunteered at the Reading Hospital.

Raised in a Baptist home, Naomi’s faith was an integral part of her life. She instilled this faith in her children and grandchildren, sharing her love for the Lord with those around her. In her last four years at The Highlands, Naomi became a beloved figure, well-known for her friendly greetings to staff, residents and visitors alike. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Helping Harvest Food Bank, 117 Morgan Dr. Reading, PA 19608, in honor of Naomi’s generous spirit and desire to help others in need.

Naomi Diana Nawrocki will be deeply missed, but her spirit of love, compassion and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home, 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, PA.
