Neil Haring Obituary

Neil A. Haring, 89, of Wyomissing, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Highlands.

He was the husband of the late Arlene R. Haring who passed away in 1990, the Rev. Lynda R. Haring, who passed away in 2022.

Born in Lyons, PA, he was the son of the late Chester A., Jr. and Emma A. (Rollman) Haring.

Surviving are his children:  Margo K., wife of Thomas Slichter of Wellsboro; Matthew J. Haring of Cumru Twp. and Mark R., husband of Kimberly Haring of Severna Park, MD; grandchildren:  Michael, husband of Pamela Hummert-Slichter of Sparks, MD; Amy, wife of Joshua Rounceville of Glen Burnie, MD; Olivia Haring of Severna Park, MD and Benjamin Haring of Severna Park, MD; great grandchildren: Kayla and Madeline Rounceville of Glen Burnie, MD.  He is also survived by siblings:  Cora E., wife of Richard Spare; Allen R., husband of Joan Haring; Suzanne W., wife of Paul Azinger; Timothy A. husband of Diane Haring; Sidney F. Haring; Christopher M., husband of Tammy Haring; Deborah L. wife of Michael Frederick; and sister-in laws, Janice Haring; Elaine Haring and Margaret Fenstermacher.  He was predeceased by his siblings:  Joseph A. Haring; Michael T. Haring; Manda L. Haring and Denton Fenstermacher.

Neil graduated from Kutztown High School in 1951 and Kutztown University in 1957.  He started his teaching career in the Lehighton School District from 1957 to 1962.  He was employed by the Gov. Mifflin School District as an Elementary Art teacher and served as head of the Art Department retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service.

Under his own name, he practiced the art of paper cutting and sold his work at many craft shows in eastern PA.  In October, 1991, he became a juried member of the PA Guild of Craftsman.  He served on the Board of Directors of the Reading-Berks, PA Chapter of Guild Craftsman.  He also was treasurer of the Guild of American Paper Cutters, a national organization established to promote the paper cutting craft.  He was Past-President and Secretary of the Mohnton Lions Club.  He was also a member of St. John’s, Atonement and Zion Lutheran Churches. 

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, Five Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610.

A greeting period will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be private.    

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Atonement Church at the above address.
