Sarah-Anne "Sally" Simmons, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 10, 2025, at the age of 88 in her hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania. Sally's life was a testament to selflessness and dedication, traits that she embodied until her final days.
Sally's journey began as a proud graduate of Reading High School, class of 1955. She attended Albright College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and later, she achieved her Early Childhood Education degree from Alvernia University. She dedicated years of her life to nurturing young minds, first as an English teacher at Muhlenberg Jr. High School and later as a preschool teacher in Shillington, Pennsylvania. After touching the lives of countless students, Sally transitioned to a role as a dental receptionist, where she continued to spread her warmth and kindness until her retirement.
Sally's life was rich with interests and activities that reflected her vibrant spirit. Music was a constant companion; she played the piano and violin with grace and sang in various choir groups, filling the air with melodies that mirrored her inner joy. She loved nothing more than singing and dancing with her grandchildren. Every year, she looked forward to creating memories with her family in the Outer Banks, and she cherished the adventures she had while traveling with friends.
She took pride in her Scottish heritage, often exploring her family history and sharing her discoveries with her family. An animal lover through and through, she shared countless moments of happiness with her collies, Sunny and Rudy, who were as much a part of her family as anyone.
Family was the cornerstone of Sally's life, and she is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Simmons; her loving children, Michele Simmons, Megan Singerling (wife of Andrew), and Michael Simmons (wife, Jessica); her cherished grandchildren, Jacob Singerling (wife, Leah), Sarah Brown (wife of Jared Brown), Gracie Simmons, Olivia Szor (step-granddaughter), and Francesca Szor (step-granddaughter); and her adored great-grandchildren, Eliza, Mac, Otto, and Emma. Each of them was a source of immense pride and joy for Sally, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance that will continue to flourish in their lives.
As we remember Sally, we are reminded of the words of William Wordsworth: "Although we can never bring back the splendor in the grass or the beauty of a flower, grieve not but remember and cherish what was left behind." Sally's loving presence will forever be a part of the many lives she touched.
Though we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life of Sarah-Anne "Sally" Simmons, a woman whose love knew no bounds and whose wisdom guided us toward our better selves. Her selfless spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will be cherished for generations to come. Sally's family would like to thank Berks Heim EC and B2 for all the love and care they gave her while she was there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ARL of Berks County 58 Kennel Road Birdsboro, PA 19508.
