Walter A. Dietrich, 87, formerly of Cumru Township, passed away January 2, 2021 from COVID-19 at the Berks Heim where he was a resident. He was the son of the late Clarence and Anna (Berringer) Dietrich and the widower of the late Mildred L. Dietrich. They were married for 57 years.
Walter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Brown Trailers for many years and last worked at Penn Iron Works as a very talented machine operator until retirement. He asked to be remembered as a proud, hard-working blue collar worker. He enjoyed fishing, the casinos, and playing the lottery with daily visits with the Weis Market employees.
Surviving is a son, Todd W. Dietrich, husband of Barbara Kern Dietrich, Cumru Township, and a daughter, Constance J. Rollinson of Richmond, Virginia. Also surviving are grandchildren, Alicia Dietrich, Christopher Ganster, Justin Dietrich, Danielle Leazier and Alexis Oliver; and eight great grandchildren. He is survived by sisters, Beatrice Kramer and Irene Harrold.
The family extends heartfelt recognition to the staff at the Berks Heim for their care and compassion during these challenging times.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will have a private service and interment.
